Prince William and Princess Kate did their first public appearance on Thursday after the summer break lasting several weeks. Together, the couple visited the redesigned outdoor area of ​​the Natural History Museum in London – a place that is particularly important to Kate because she has been a patron there for several years.

But the attention of the guests and photographers was primarily aimed at the changed appearance of the Princess of Wales: Kate presented herself with bright summer highlights and much longer than before the summer break. Your hair is now light blonde and fall up to the middle of your back.

A few days ago there had been snapshots that Kate showed in a car on the way to a service near Balmoral Castle in Scotland with significantly lighter hair. The current appearance has now confirmed the type change. At the last public appearance of the princess at the tennis tournament in Wimbledon, her hair had shone even in a darker chestnut tone.

The change of hair comes at a special time: In March 2024, the princess had made it public that she had to undergo cancer treatment. In January of this year she announced that she had completed chemotherapy and was in remission.

During a visit to the Royal Marsden Hospital in January, Kate also spoke openly about the topic of hair loss in cancer. One patient reported that the princess did not have to use so -called “cold cap” (cold hood against hair loss) during her chemotherapy. Not all types of chemotherapy provide hair loss, alternatively there are medication that can prevent the loss of hair.

When visiting the Natural History Museum, the Royale couple did not let a sudden rain shower spoil their mood. Together with school children, they explored the new gardens of the museum, which are supposed to show habitats for insects, birds and plants. Kate has already emphasized several times how important her nature and environmental protection is – topics that Kate found particularly strengthening in her personal health phase.

The appointment not only marked the official return to everyday royal life, but also a new section in the family year: The three children of the couple had started school the day before. The family had spent the summer months largely privately.
