In an interview, Boris Becker spoke openly about his time in prison. The detention in England was “painful and degrading”.
Tennis legend Boris Becker, 57, assumes that the time in custody will deal with him until the end of his life. “You never get rid of the time. You take the prison in your new life,” Becker told the “SZ-Magazin”.
The detention in England was “painful and degrading”. He had to learn there to cope with the simplest conditions. “You are a number, no one more.”

Boris Becker: No applause, no headlines
Becker emphasized that the months in prison had forced him to think about his life. “I was suddenly cut off from everything. No applause, no headlines – only myself and the question of how to proceed.”
The 57-year-old was sentenced to two and a half years in prison in April 2022 because he had kept silent about his insolvency administrators in the millions. He was released in December 2022, was immediately deported to Germany and is not allowed to travel to his former adopted home of Great Britain for the time being. Becker lives with his partner Lilian de Carvalho Monteiro in Milan. You expect a child.
