PSG coach Luis Enrique has broken the collarbone in a bike fall and must be operated on.
Shortcup for Paris Saint-Germain: Starting coach Luis Enrique (55) fell heavily in the event of a bicycle accident on Friday and had to be taken to the hospital. The 55-year-old Spaniard suffered a break in the keybone, like the French champion.
“After a bicycle fall on Friday, the coach of Paris Saint-Germain, Luis Enrique, was cared for by the emergency services and is operated on because of a broken collarbone,” says the club’s official statement. The exact circumstances of the accident initially remained unclear.
Club wishes quick recovery
Paris Saint-Germain assured his head coach full support. “Paris Saint-Germain would like to express his full support and wish him a quick recovery. The club will shortly provide more information,” said the club.
Use at the next game questionable
Whether Luis Enrique can stand on the sidelines at the next league game against RC Lens after the international break or at the Champions League start against Atalanta Bergamo. It would be conceivable that he must first follow the action from home.
Born in Spaniards, PSG took over in the summer of 2023 and led the club to historical success last season. In 133, Paris Saint-Germain played 87 victories under his direction, 19 draws and received only 16 defeats. The absolute highlight was the win of the first Champions League trophy in the history of the club. Previously, the former world-class player was already on the sidelines at FC Barcelona or the Spanish national team.
Luis Enrique has been married to his wife Elena Cullel since 1997 and has three children with her. Her youngest daughter Xana died on August 29, 2019 at the age of nine.
