These days cinema goers have good chances to see eleven -year -old Zoë Baier on the screen. Because two films run with her.

Zoë Baier (11) can currently be seen in two large cinema films: “Look in the sun” and “22 lanes”. In an interview with “Bild am Sonntag”, she revealed how the student from Augsburg made and what other plans she has.

She was successful in the fifth casting

In contrast to many other young stars, she does not come from a family of actors. Her father Daniel Baier (41) is a sports coordinator at RB Leipzig. It was a coincidence that she came to the film, reveals the eleven -year -old, who was already at the Film Festival in Cannes in May. A friend heard on the radio that a casting is running. “I went through because I wanted to know how it works. I didn’t get this role, but overall it was so much fun that I tried it until it finally worked out the fifth time.”

When turning, they noticed that “how much fun I have to act as a whole, so I knew that it is what I really want to do.” That is why she wanted to work as an actress later. Her great role model is “Euphoria” star Zendaya (29). But she already has a plan B: she could also imagine studying interior design after Abitur.

“My mother says I’ve always been a ramp sow”

Zoë Baier has been dancing since she was three. With her cheerleading group, she trains for championship and is used to appearing in front of people. She doesn’t seem to know stage fright. “My mother says I’ve always been a ramp sow. I never wanted to practice, I just wanted to appear.” Therefore, she is not nervous before castings and filming.

So far, school and film projects have been well connected. “I take all the things I need for school,” reveals Baier. “And my girlfriend sends me everything else I need to know every day. And then I learn after the shoot.”

Your films are not an easy food

The drama “look into the sun” has been seen in German cinemas since August 28th. The film by director Mascha Schilinski (41) was awarded the prize of the jury in Cannes and goes into the race for the Oscar 2026 for Germany in the best international film category. The plot extends over a period of 100 years and shows four girls in four different decades who live in a farm in the Altmark. Thematically, it is about domestic violence and repressed trauma. Zoë Baier embodies Nelly, who is haunted by intensive dreams in the courtyard. She did not read the script beforehand “because many scenes are too brutal and too creepy”.

The film adaptation of Caroline Wahl’s book “22 Rails”, which came to cinemas on September 4, also contains difficult topics. The eleven -year -old plays Ida, who, together with her older sister Tilda (Luna Wedler, 25), has to cope with an alcoholic mother. “We tested the very bad scenes, for example the one in which the mother is lying on the ground so that the work is easier,” Zoë Baier told “Bild”.
