The premiere of “Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery” offered a large star bid. The cast around Daniel Craig honored the event.
Daniel Craig (57) returns as master detective Benoit Blanc. As in the two previous editions of the “Knives Out” film series by Rian Johnson (51), the actor is again the only constant at the cast. And as in part one and two, the third part “Wake Up Dead Man” is put at an impressive star ensemble. This gathered on Saturday for the premiere of “Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery” at the Toronto International Film Festival.
In addition to Craig, Josh O’Connor, Cailee Spaeny, Glenn Close, Josh Brolin, Kerry Washington, Mila Kunis, Andrew Scott, Daryl McCormack and Jeremy Renner were present. Johnson and producer Ram Bergman (54) also joined the star cast.
Daniel Craig: “Big Happiness” with a role as a Benoit Blanc
“How happy can I appreciate to be able to play such a role?” Explained Daniel Craig about his role on the red carpet of the premiere. “I mean I have [James] Bond played and now I’m suddenly playing Benoit Blanc. I’m very lucky. “To a possible fourth part and a return of his role, he said:” I don’t know. Rian has not written anything yet because we are making this film out yet. “If the screenwriter and director write another script,” which is as good as I imagine it is easy “.
The film will be available on Netflix from December 12 of this year. This remains the three -year rhythm: Part one called “Knives Out – Murder is a family matter” appeared in 2019, in 2022 the sequel “Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery” and at the end of 2025 part three.
Title inspired by famous band again
Once again, the title has not been chosen arbitrarily. Johnson was inspired by Radiohead (“Knives Out”) at part one and inspired for part two of the Beatles (“Glass Onion”), “Wake Up Dead Man” is also a song title of a famous volume. In 1997 the song of the same name was published on the album “Pop” of the Irish band U2.
In a contribution on the official “Tudum” page of Netflix, the film contents say that part three has the typical comedic Johnson style-“this time, however, a darker tone is struck than was seen in the previous films”.
