US President apparently nods at US Open

Donald Trump was filmed with their eyes closed at the US Open final – apparently the president died during the match.

Actually, it should be a glamorous appearance at the prestigious men’s final of the US Open. But Donald Trump (79) made completely different headlines in the Arthur Ashe stadium on Sunday in New York. The US President was caught by cameras how he kept it with it and apparently held a nap, while Carlos Alcaraz (22) and Jannik Sinner (24) dueled for the title on the court.

The recordings show Trump how he sits visibly tired in his VIP lodge. Body language expert Judi James analyzed the scenes and described Trump’s behavior as “completely out of time” with the rest. While all other spectators applauded and cheered, the 79-year-old seemed completely uninterested to the high-class tennis match.

Earlier departure after 90 minutes

Trump’s disinterest in the tennis event became even clearer when he left the stadium after 90 minutes – before many fans even reached their places. The tightened security measures due to his visit had ensured massive queues in Flushing Meadow Park in the Queens district. “Let’s go in! Let’s go in!” Chaniting frustrated tennis fans, according to media reports, who were still stuck outside.

Because of the safety precautions, the final had to be postponed by half an hour. Even 45 minutes after the planned start, a number of places were still empty. Tennis legend Martina Navratilova (68) sharply criticized the situation: “It is 2 p.m. and the stadium is more than half empty, there is only one way. Thank you, Trump !!!”

Alcaraz is still happy about prominent guest

While Trump seemed visibly bored, the later winner Carlos Alcaraz was quite pleased with the prominent visit. “To be honest, it’s great for me to play in front of him,” said the Spaniard in the TV interview. “I think that the president comes to a tennis match is great for tennis.”

In fact, Trump is not a passionate tennis fan. Since taking office as 47th president, he prefers other sports and can be seen regularly in UFC fights, NASCAR races or NFL games. In the case of tennis, however, he seems to be less in his element – which impressively underlined his sleepy performance in New York.

Mixed reactions in the democratic New York

In addition to his obvious lack of interest, Trump also had to deal with the expected critical reactions of the New York spectators. When the stadium camera swiveled onto the saluting president during the national anthem, the boozing applause moored. Trump took it calmly and smiled broadly into the camera.

The television stations had received instructions in advance of hiding negative reactions – a procedure that resulted in censorship allegations. Nevertheless, the protests were clearly heard in the live broadcast of ESPN. In contrast, other prominence such as rock legend Bruce Springsteen (75), a Trump critic, who has been confessed to many years, was cheered.
