“Pride and prejudice” is a classic of world literature. TV star Aaron Altaras breathed into the sexy Mister Darcy life in a new radio play version. Not an easy task.

The actor, singer and DJ Aaron Altaras speaks the immortal sex symbol Mister Darcy in a new radio play version of the classic “pride and prejudice” and has refined his voice accordingly.



“I have to honestly say that I don’t see myself as the epitome of the clever, attractive man. So I made a lot of effort to do this picture with my voice,” said the TV star (“Die doubt”, “Unorthodox”) of the German Press Agency in Berlin.

“It was a very demanding task, but I hope that I succeeded,” he continued. “Darcy and I come from very different times and we are also different types, but what combines us is belief in romantic love.”


“Misunderstandings often arise from prejudices”

The 29-year-old sees the novel a timeless substance: “” pride and prejudice “can show young people today how important it is to be open and honest in relationships. It teaches that misunderstandings often arise from prejudices or pride and that it is worth looking behind facades and really dealing with others.”




In addition, the novel shows how important it is to work on yourself and reflect on your own self -image in order to find real love, says Altaras. “Overall, the story encourages to be honest, reduce prejudices and get to know the people around us better.”


Emilia Schüle is Elizabeth Bennet

The new German -language adaptation of Jane Austen has been available at the streaming service Audible since Tuesday (September 9). Emilia Schüle can be heard in the leading role of Elizabeth Bennet. In other roles, Dennesesch Zoudé as Mrs. Bennet, Pierre Besson as Mr. Bennet, Samina König as Jane Bennet, Daniel Zillmann as Mr. Colins, Paula Essam as Mrs. Bingley and Julia Willecke alias Julia Beautx as Lydia Bennet.

The focus of history is the young and beautiful Elisabeth Bennet in England in the early 19th century before a big life decision: the choice of a suitable marriage candidate. In 2025, Jane Austen is the year of the 250th birthday.
