Two dozen German film stars were honored at the premiere of “Call My Agent Berlin”. The best: In the TV series, they play themselves-and even more stars.
It could be the next very big series success from Germany: on September 12th, Disney+ “Call My Agent Berlin” will start at the streaming service. In the ten -part comedy series about the fictional acting agency Stern and its high -performance agents (including Lucas Gregorowicz and Karin Hanczewski), some of the country’s largest stars appear – and play comedically oversubscribed versions of themselves.

The big German premiere of “Call My Agent Berlin” was correspondingly well attended on Monday evening in the Berlin Colosseum Filmtheater in Prenzlauer Berg. The guests included Emilia Schüle, Heiner Lauterbach and Veronica Ferres. Active star Frederick Lau is also with his wife Annika Lau, Heike Makatsch, Iris Berben, Moritz Bleibtreu and “Tatort” commissioner Florence Kasumba. They all appear in “Call My Agent Berlin”, a remake of the French success series “Call My Agent”, in one episode. And they are only part of the contingent: many other TV and cinema ducts give themselves the honor of parodying themselves.

The Stern drama agency represents some of the largest film stars in Germany as clients. But after the sudden death of their founder, the agents have to fight for the survival of the company, which is about to broke.
A new drama takes place every day for prominent customers – whether quarrels and disputes under stars on the set or private life crises. The agents of Stern skillfully pull the threads behind the scenes and are masters of manipulation to get out the best possible for the stars represented.
