Generous Royal: Prince Harry has announced that he donated 1.4 million euros to a charity out of his own pocket.
Prince Harry (40) is a strong sign of his social commitment: The Duke of Sussex has announced that he donated 1.4 million euros (£ 1.1 million) to the BBC donation organization “Children in Need”. The money is intended to benefit youth initiatives in Nottingham who take care of young people in districts affected by violence.
Harry made his generous donation public on Tuesday as part of his stay in Nottingham, where he visited the Community Recording Studio (CRS) and the Organization Epic Partners, with whom he has been connected for many years.
Prince Harry raves about charity organization
Harry described the work of the organizations as “not only inspiring, but also essential”. Among other things, the money should flow into safe spaces where trained youth workers show young people perspectives, build trust and help them develop their talents. “I am proud to have invested in this community. Thanks to the support of Children in Need, this donation can have more effect and make other projects possible for young people,” Harry is quoted.
Because: In addition to Harry’s contribution, “Children in Need” also places over $ 400,000 on top. With its experience and network, the organization also ensures that an additional effect of around £ 300,000 is created. In the end, more money arrives at the projects than if Harry had just donated the sum directly.
During his visit, Harry took time for discussions with young people, police officers and representatives of local initiatives. He heard music appearances, accompanied an recording session in the studio and discussed the challenges of the youth in the city with participants. He confirmed his many years of connection with Nottingham: “Nottingham has my respect, support and a permanent place in my heart.”
The duke has been involved in youth violence for almost 15 years and especially against razor crime – a topic that has long been acute in Nottingham. “I heard stories here that moved me deep, but also experienced strength and inspiration,” he said.
Prince Harry in Great Britain for a few days
Prince Harry is currently spending a few days in his old home. At Windsor Castle, he put down a wreath for the late monarch. Later in the day he celebrated the 20th anniversary of the charity organization Wellchild in the Royal Lancaster Hotel in London. Harry has been the patron of the organization for years.
Private appointments are scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday. Whether there is also a meeting with his father King Charles III. (76) or even brother Prince William (43) is not known.
