Sylvie Meis: Celebrities have a harder time when looking for a partner

Love in the spotlight has her pitfalls – Sylvie Meis also knows that. The moderator talks about permanent observation, distrust and the question: does he really want me or just the headline?

Model and moderator Sylvie Meis (“Love Island VIP”) thinks that celebrities are much more difficult in the search for a new love than normalos. “I think it is more difficult for celebrities to find a partner. You are in public, you will be observed all the time,” said the 47-year-old of the German Press Agency. “That can inhibit”.

Another problem is the question of the honest intentions of the dating partner. As a celebrity, you become suspicious faster. She herself knows these doubts. “Why does a person show interest in me? Is she really interested in me as a person or in the public person? Does she just want to become famous and end up in the press? “It is more difficult to really get involved in a flirt.”

The case is different, even if the other person is in public, said Meis. “If both partners are known and know this problem, I think it is easier,” she said.

The Dutch TV presenter (“Let’s Dance”) currently deals intensively with the trials and tribulations of love. From Thursday (September 11th, 8:15 p.m., seven days in advance on RTL+) a new season “Love Island VIP” can be seen at RTLZWEI – moderated by Sylvie Meis. A group of adventure singles flirts extensively in a luxurious villa. In the VIP edition, only candidates who are more or less known compete, for example from other reality shows or as an influencer. This time there are “I’m a star-get me out of here!”-winner Filip Pavlovic and ex- “Bachelorette” Stella Stegmann.

Meis believes that her protégés among the special “Love Island VIP” conditions can still find real love. “The singles with us come with an open heart and open spirit,” she promised. “And I think that’s something that we should all believe in again. Love exists and it is still to be found – even in a world with many reality stars that have already done and experienced a lot.”

Meis himself was married to footballer Rafael van der Vaart from 2005 to 2013. In 2020 she married the artist Niclas Castello. In 2023 the couple announced their separation.
