Graciela Borges will receive the Honoris Causa doctorate in the third edition of the UBA International Film Festival

The festival will take place from October 1 to 8, 2025 at different venues from the City of Buenos Aires. All activities will be with free and free access.

The University of Buenos Aires and the Faculty of Architecture, Design and Urbanism (FADU)through the Secretariat of Technological Design and Innovation Policies, the Ministry of Institutional Relations, Culture and Communication, and the Image and Sound Design career, announced the realization of the third edition of the UBA International Film Festival (Fic.uba). It will take place from October 1 to 8, 2025 at different venues from the City of Buenos Aires. All activities will be with free and free access.

The festival will have its headquarters in the Fadu (University City) and will expand to emblematic rooms and cultural spaces of Buenos Aires: Cinépolis Plaza Houssay – Room 3 (Av. Córdoba 2135), Cultural San Martín (Paraná 310), Cine Cosmos (Av. Corrientes 2046) and Law Faculty (Av. Figueroa Alcorta 2263).

How will the UBA International Film Festival

Fic.uba 2025 will have 48 feature films and 36 short films in 8 days of projections, organized in 4 competitions, a panorama section and three retrospective. Among the most attractive events of the festival is the delivery of the title Honoris Causa Doctor of the UBA To three key cinema figures:

The iconic Argentine actress Graciela Borges She will be honored with a projection of her most emblematic films. With more than six decades of experience, Borges worked with directors such as Leopoldo Torre Nilsson, Raúl de la Torre and Lucrecia Martel, and consolidated himself as one of the most recognized and awarded performers of national cinema, undisputed reference of the big screen in Latin America.

The renowned British filmmaker Asif KapadiaOscar winner for Amy, will also receive recognition and will present his new film, 2073, for the first time in Argentina. Kapadia is the author of a documentary trilogy that marked a milestone in contemporary cinema (Senna, Amy, Diego Maradona), recognized in international festivals and awards for his innovative narrative and his ability to portray icons of global culture.

The Argentine plastic artist and designer Juan Gatti He will be distinguished by his international career at the crossroads between cinema and visual arts. Recognized for being the author of the graphic designs of numerous films by Pedro Almodóvar, he also collaborated with filmmakers such as Fernando Trueba, Alex de la Iglesia and Lucrecia Martel. In parallel, he left an indelible mark on popular culture with lids of emblematic discs of Argentine rock of the seventies, becoming a key figure of contemporary graphic design.

Within the framework of the festival and in commemoration of the 40th anniversary of the trial to the meetingswill be delivered to the Law School – which this year is incorporated as a fic.uba headquarters – the title of Doctor Honoris Causa to the judges responsible for the historic ruling. They will receive this recognition Ricardo Gil Lavedra, León Carlos Arslanián, Jorge Valerga Aráoz, Guillermo Ledesma, Jorge Torlasco (Post Mortem) and Andrés J. D’Alessio (Post Mortem).

The tribute is completed with the projection of three films that address the historical trial: Argentina, 1985 (Santiago Miter), the trial (Ulysses of the Order) and the Argentine Nüremberg (Miguel Rodríguez Arias).
