Sylvie Meis about “Love Island VIP”: “We had drama that no one expected”

Sylvie Meis (47) has been presenting the dating show “Love Island” since 2021. In 2024 a celebrity edition was produced for the first time, now there is another VIP relay (from September 11, Thursdays, 8:15 p.m., RTLZWEI and in advance on RTL+). There are TV stars such as jungle king Filip Pavlovic, “Bachelorette” Stella Stegmann, “GNTM” model Brenda Patea or “Summer House of the Stars” participants Umut Tekin. And the 21 prominent singles under the sun of Greece ensure very nice vertebrae, as Sylvie Meis announces in an interview with the news agency Spot on News. Therefore, the filming of “Love Island VIP” also had a few surprises for the experienced moderator.

Sylvie Meis: I think it’s the most emotional season of all time. It is really my absolute highlight as a moderator. The three and a half weeks of filming in Greece were a very special time – and this is also evident in the consequences. There were a lot of surprises. We had drama that nobody expected. And: it is more glamorous than ever before. I only say VIP Members Club that has never existed. There have been much more unexpected things than usual. The audience can therefore look forward to a real fireworks.

Meis: Definitely on Stella Stegmann. I think it’s great that she is the first confessed bisexual candidate we’d ever have. It shows that “Love Island” is a place where everyone can feel safe. Of course I can’t reveal too much in advance, but I also find it very exciting how the story with Stella will go. And then I was really looking forward to the Bad Boys this year, they are so funny and bring me a lot of fun. The entire cast is a colorful and exciting mixture, which is actually guaranteed that a lot will happen.

Meis: Umut Tekin surprised me. I had a certain idea of ​​him and thought, of course I know such a guy. But I think many people will be very surprised by him. And Jeje Lopes I find a really great woman in the cast. Very fiery, and that’s great. Incidentally, I also think it is a really good decision that we announced our cast in advance for the first time. It is nice for the audience that they can really look forward to their favorites. We just have a hammer cast, and you can show that beforehand.

Meis: As a presenter, I was really fully in use this time. So much has happened that I often had to spontaneously had to go to the villa, whether during the day or at night. So this time it was hardest for me to get up again in the morning (laughs). But I really enjoyed it. I am a huge fan of this show and love to moderate you. I really laugh myself, like everyone else, and fever.

Meis: There were days when I would have had free, but then I was called and informed that I have to come to the villa immediately because something exciting happened again. Then I just put on a dress quickly and off we went. It was a really great team feeling, all of us together in Greece. I also had to be styled between the planned shoots and learn my texts. So there was a lot to do, especially since we also created even more content than before. The fans can look forward to funny outtakes, backstage videos and more styling transformations. “Love Island VIP” will also be very, very, very present on my Instagram channel for the next few weeks.

Meis: Yes, and I’m so excited and excited to see the overall package. I was on site and was informed about the events in the villa every day, but it is simply something else that was cut and commented on as if you only read a protocol. Of course, I don’t see on site how the celebrities react to each other in the interview room. I am sure that this time I will think of looking: for God’s sake, how much they cried and what a drama they had.

Meis: Unfortunately, I missed my son’s birthday by filming, but he was allowed to choose a trip for this. And so we flew to Ibiza directly after “Love Island VIP” and celebrated. We both enjoyed that.

Meis: I prefer to keep my private life privately. I feel really much, much better since I did not confirm anything, nothing posted, just enjoy my life. I don’t hide anything either, but I just don’t talk about it anymore. But I celebrate the love of my Islander. With the season we also extend the summer a bit, I think that’s nice. I am also lucky that I will fly to Mallorca in September, where we celebrate the 60th birthday of my dear friend Serena Goldenbaum. I feel very blessed that I can still fill up with a little bit of sun, even though it will be falling here.
