The film star is terminally ill: Bruce Willis’ wife Emma explains in her book how she prepares her daughters for his death.
Bruce Willis’ (70) wife Emma Heming Willis (47) apparently wants to prepare her daughters for the actor’s death. Willis suffers from frontotemporal dementia (FTD) and now lives separated from his family. In her new book about the care of the film star that she had brought the 70-year-old to a second house so that her two daughters, Mabel (13) and Evelyn (11), could prepare for the death of her father.
Giving the girls some distance from Bruce, “helps them to prepare for his death,” the 47-year-old, according to the report, wrote in her book “The Unexpected Journey”, which has now been published. She knew “how dark and disturbing it sounds,” she continued, “but that is the hard reality of the world in which I have to move to continue to protect our girls as well as possible”. According to “New York Post”, she also explained that the average life expectancy for someone with frontotemporal dementia “7 to 13 years after the first symptoms occurred”.
At the beginning of 2023, Willis’ family had made public that the disease had been determined. Around a year earlier it was announced that Bruce Willis ends his career due to aphasia, a language disorder.
“You really can’t be discussed”
“This disease called FTD is terrible, but it gives you a little time to plan and organize his affairs,” said Emma Heming Willis, who has been married to the actor since 2009. “I think if we get used to the fact that we are only three in our house, it will alleviate the shock for Mabel and Evelyn if the inevitable occurrence.” As long as there is no healing, “this disease will always win,” she added to the report.
The 47-year-old also spoke in the program “Good Morning America” about her husband’s condition and the controversial decision to take him to a second home. “It was a difficult decision for us, but it was the safest and best decision, not only for Bruce, but also for our two little girls,” she said.
“And you know that you really cannot be discussed,” she added. “Now I know that Bruce gets 100 percent the best care. His needs are 100 percent fulfilled, as are those of our two small daughters. That’s why I will not discuss it.”
In addition to the two daughters together with Emma Heming Willis, Bruce Willis is also the father of three adult daughters – Rumer (37), Scout (34) and Tallulah (31) – from his marriage to actress Demi Moore (62).
