Mötley Crüe had to cancel their tour in March. Now it is known why: Frontmann Vince Neil suffered a stroke.

In March Mötley Crüe had to postpone her planned Las Vegas Residency for a “medical intervention” at short notice. Now it is known what was behind it: Frontmann Vince Neil (64) suffered a stroke a few months in advance. He revealed that now.

“I had a stroke. My entire left side was paralyzed,” said Neil. The musician went to bed healthy on Christmas Eve. The complaints started at night.

Residency moved

Because of the health complications, the band had to move their planned Las Vegas Residency in Park MGM. The dates that were originally scheduled for March and April were relocated to the period from September 12 to October 3.

“I had to learn to run again and that was hard,” said Neil. “The doctors said they didn’t think I could ever return to the stage. But I replied: ‘No, no, I’ll do it. Just wait.'”

The band also canceled the first part of the shows so that the singer could completely recover. In May, Mötley Crüe also had to cancel her appearance at the Boardwalk Rock Festival in Ocean City, Maryland.

Step by step back into life

Neil underwent intensive physiotherapy: “In the beginning, people still had to carry me into the bathroom because I couldn’t walk myself. Then the wheelchair came, then the walking car, then one stick. Now I don’t need anything anymore.” His voice remained unaffected, but he had to laboriously learn the interaction between the brain and motor skills: “You want to go, but it doesn’t work as your brain specifies.”

Today he even learned to run again. “It was hard, but I’m back. I am 90, 95 percent again the old one – and it will be great,” said Neil optimistic.

It is not the first time that Neil will be slowed down in health: in October 2021 he broke several ribs during a performance in Tennessee after falling off the stage.
