Andreas Martin is dead. The former “hit parade” star died at the age of 72, as his son confirmed.
The pop singer Andreas Martin is dead. The former “Hitparade” favorite died in his house in his house in his house on Saturday. Martin was 72 years old. The cause of death was therefore organ failure. According to the newspaper, his son Alexander (39) has been by his side in the past few hours.
He explained: “My father has become weaker and weaker in the past few months. He didn’t want to eat and drink at all. On Friday evening I had a bad feeling and stayed with him. He fell asleep forever overnight – with a smile on his face.”
Andreas Martin, bourgeois Andreas Martin Krause, celebrated great success in the 1980s and 1990s. With songs like “Amore Mio” or “Your wings catch fire” he became a crowd favorite. His greatest success was “You are everything (Maria, Maria)” in 1987. Thanks to his striking voice and charming appearance, he was considered a Sonnyboy of the German hit and was a regular guest in the legendary “ZDF hit parade”.
Born in Berlin, he is a discoverer of Wolfgang Petry and, in addition to his solo career, composed numerous songs for pop stars such as Juliane Werding, Nino de Angelo or Roger Whittaker.
Death of the wife and withdrawal from the show business
His life took a dramatic turn when his wife Juliane tragically died in 2017. She had disappeared for months and was finally found dead. For Andreas Martin, this loss was a shock from which he never recovered. “My father still spoke of the mom how much he missed her. On his last evening too,” his son Alexander told Bild. “Papa probably died of a broken heart.”
After his wife’s death, Martin withdrew from the show business. Planned comebacks, around 2019 with “We catch from the front”, failed again and again because of his battered health. The singer apparently suffered from polyneuropathy, a disease of the nervous system, and also fought depression. He no longer entered the stage on which he was once so successful. In December 2023, Andreas Martin published a farewell album entitled “Here at the moment”.
In accordance with his wish, Andreas Martin should be cremated and buried in the grave of his wife Juliane. This fulfills the last will of a man, whose greatest happiness and at the same time the deepest pain was the love of his life.
