Lilian de Carvalho Monteiro: Only Boris Becker was allowed to meet her father

Whether Boris Becker (57), Lilly Becker (49) or Barbara Becker (58) – they have all spoke in interviews in recent years. Not so Lilian de Carvalho Monteiro (35). Becker’s third wife, whom he married exactly a year ago on September 14, 2024 and who is currently expecting the first child together, verbally held back from the public.

In conversation with the, however, she has a primary role, while Boris exceptionally plays the second interview violin. She talks about the first to get to know why she has (yet) accepted her husband’s last name – and about a special premiere, the Boris.

So it was thanks to her husband’s persistence that she got into a date with him about six years ago. Although they got on well straight away, they met again and again afterwards, but: “I only gave my phone number Boris after ten months.” Forced insulation during Corona pandemic, of all people, helped them grow together to form a conspiratorial unit.

So Lilian does not give her cell phone number lightly. And even with other important decisions, she is happy to let the necessary time. For example, she reveals in the current interview: “Boris is the first man I presented to my father.” Her father’s opinion is extremely important to her, and of course he only has the best for his daughter in mind. So she was all the more excited at the first meeting of the two men – “that was Christmas 2020”. But “luckily both liked each other straight away”.

The fact that she did not immediately accept her husband’s last name after the wedding is due to her Italian origin. “In Italy, women do not automatically accept the man’s last name. You can, but that’s a process of their own,” said Lilian de Carvalho Monteiro. What she could imagine is to combine both names one day. In the case of their first child together, who is supposed to see the light of day in December, the situation is clear, however, because: “The children in Italy get the father’s name. So it becomes a Becker baby.”
