On behalf of Her Majesty: The suitcases are packed for the Queen’s jubilee. Ireland, the Caribbean and Papua New Guinea are fixed as travel destinations.
For the great jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II this year, the British royal family wants to be present all over the world. It therefore sends its representatives on trips in the spring.
Heir to the throne Prince Charles (73) and his wife Camilla (74) want to come to Ireland at the end of March, according to Buckingham Palace. Prince William (39) and Duchess Kate (40) want to be in the Caribbean at the same time and visit the Commonwealth States of Jamaica, Belize and the Bahamas.
The 95-year-old Queen herself had tested positive for Corona over the weekend and is currently recovering while continuing to perform “light tasks”, according to the palace. However, she canceled some online audiences. Because of her old age, there is great concern for the monarch’s health, although it is certain that she has been vaccinated against the virus three times. With the travel announcements and the assurance that the Queen will continue to work, the palace is trying to normalize.
More anniversary tours will follow in April: Prince Edward and his wife Sophie (both 57) will also be traveling in the Caribbean, while Princess Anne (71) wants to travel to Papua New Guinea.
It is unclear to what extent the Queen will take part in the celebrations for her 70th anniversary planned for early June. Parades, concerts and other events in her honor are planned over several days.
