He Mar del Plata International Film Festival celebrates its 40th edition this year with a program that points high. The opening film will be Spider -woman kissdirected by Bill Condonwhile the closure will be in charge of The folliesthe most recent feature film of Rodrigo García. In addition, Italy will be the guest country, with a selection of eight films within the Italian Screens initiative.
Condon, Oscar winner for Gods and monsters and responsible for titles such as Dreamgirls and Beauty and the beastwill present in Mar del Plata his musical version of Manuel Puig’s famous novel. The film has a completely Latin cast: Tonatiuh Elizarraz such as Luis Molina, Diego Luna as Valentín Arregui and Jennifer López as Aurora. The inaugural projection will take place on November 6, with the presence of the director and the young Mexican-American actor.

Italy will be the guest country in the 2025 edition of the Mar del Plata Film Festival
For the second consecutive year, the festival will have a guest country. In 2025 it will be Italy’s turn, which will present eight contemporary films through the Italian Screens cycle. The programming includes La Gioa of Nicolangelo Gelormini, FuorI from Mario Martone, Nonosaste of Valerio Mastandrea with Dolores Fonzi, and Testa or croce? from Alessio Rigo de Righti and Matteo Zoppis, with Peter Lanzani in the cast. They will also look Napoli-New York from Gabriele Salvatores, Paternal Leave by Alissa Jung, and the documentary Manara by Valentina Zanella, with the participation of the comic outletist Milo Manara. An eighth film will be announced soon.
Organized by INCAA and accredited by the FIAPF, the Mar del Plata International Film Festival is the only class A in Latin America. Edition number 40 will take place between November 6 and 15, 2025, consolidating its role as the main window of Argentine and international cinema.
