The Cologne public prosecutor has discontinued the investigation into the death of rapper Xatar. There was therefore no external negligence.
After the surprising death of the musician Xatar (1981-2025), bourgeois Giwar Hajabi, in May this year the Cologne public prosecutor announced the conclusion of the investigation. A so -called death investigation procedure had already been initiated on the day of the die of the rapper. It was about clarifying whether “a criminal external fault was relevant”, as in May. But that could not be determined.
No evidence of external debt
“The public prosecutor’s office in Cologne has completed the investigation into the death circumstances of Giwar Hajabi after evaluating the chemical-toxicological report commissioned by it,” says a statement by the Cologne senior prosecutor Ulrich Bremer.
And further: “Overall, there have been no evidence that the death of the artist would have been caused by the culpable behavior of other people. The death investigation procedure has therefore been discontinued. Against this background, the public prosecutor will not provide any further details on the results of the personality of the deceased and its relatives.”
Known by attack on gold transporters
Xatar died surprisingly in May at the age of 43. He was found dead in his own apartment.
The rapper had previously lived an extremely moving life that was filmed in Fatih Akins (51) film “Rheingold” after the autobiographical novel “Aller or Nix”. In addition to his own music career, he had run several of his own labels and founded his own shisha bar and a snack bar as an entrepreneur.
Xatar also gained national fame through his criminal energies: in 2009 he attacked a gold transporter with three accomplices dressed as police officers and tax investigators and fled into Iraq. After his arrest and deportation to Germany, he was sentenced to eight years in prison, of which he was around five. He started his music career in prison.
