Sarah Engels (32) celebrates her musical debut. The rehearsals began at the beginning of September. On November 13th she is on stage for the first time in Cologne. In total, it will appear in 15 shows.
The singer embodies Satine, star of the legendary Paris night club Moulin Rouge. She is a strong woman who loves the stage, but also has to struggle with the dark side of show life. Her life is turned upside down after getting to know the young writer Christian.
“It’s my dream role”
Engels has revealed that she has great respect for the role and the musical genre. “Of course I love standing on stage and I’m at home in singing, but as a satine I am now at least as challenged in drama and dance,” added the singer. However, the role of the Satine is her “absolute dream role” and every new rehearsal day “brings new input”. “It is challenging, but that is exactly what makes it so special,” said the singer.

Director BAZ Luhrmann staged the template for the musical in 2001. Nicole Kidman (58) and Ewan McGregor (54) took over the main roles at the time. The film played $ 184 million worldwide and was nominated for eight Oscars.
