Frank Buschmann will leave “Ninja Warrior” after season ten. In the interview, he reveals why he decided to withdraw.

Frank “Buschi” Buschmann (60) heralds his farewell as one of the moderators of “Ninja Warrior Germany” with the tenth season. RTL shows the anniversary consequences from September 19th for Primetime (in advance). “Two years ago I noticed for the first time that it could be time to slowly withdraw,” explains Buschmann in an interview with Spot on News. “A lot appeared to me in my position. Then you should be honest with yourself and everyone else.”

For the moderator and commentator, personal reasons are also added: “It has not only been ninja in recent years. I was traveling alone for six to eight weeks in summer. Without family, dog and friends. I didn’t want to live in the length.

After the season, Buschmann will clear his place next to Laura Wontorra (36) and Jan Köppen (42). “We are simply very different, so it worked so well. Sounds strange, but it is so,” explains “Buschi” about the harmonious trio that has previously been through the Parcours show. “Our way of dealing with each other was honest, the audience felt that. Laura and Jan are full professional and also very different in dealing with the job. So they can understand me.” From the question of his successor, he “consciously completely out,” emphasizes the moderator.

The show in which the candidates have to complete an obstacle course in the shortest possible time has existed since 2016. “I will never forget the first season with Olli Edelmann, who was the only step to the final,” recalls Buschmann. “Then our Ninja Opi Günther Portals, which is a role model for young and old in old age. It is often the personal stories that have gripped me in particular.” In the course of the seasons, the athletes have also “just become increasingly crazier and, above all, better”.

These are Frank Buschmann’s future plans

With all the enthusiasm for the show – would the moderator return to the show? “If the production is moved to Munich, the production days take eight hours and I urgently need the money …”, bushmann jokes and makes it clear: “Ten seasons ninja are enough. Otherwise I would not have made this decision.”

However, there is still no talk of a complete withdrawal. “I still have a lot of energy,” says the moderator. “I always liked television, my job. This is still the case. So I will certainly do a few more years in another dose.” He has always enjoyed trying formats “that not everyone had on the piece. I always liked to work differently than it was common. I will continue to try. I would like to go to the area of documentation and look at the people in this country ‘on the mouth’. But probably nobody lets me on a leash. This is also ok. My luck in life does not depend.”
