Pop musician Nina Chuba (26) speaks openly about the dark sides of her success. In a current conversation with the magazine “Der Spiegel”, she describes how the hype around her person also strengthened her fears and pressure: “It is so absurd. I live my dream, but I’m afraid to order a coffee alone or get on a plane.” She also knew exactly where that came from. “That comes from my ‘Wildberry Lillet’ time. This hype at the time was so crazy, and I was not prepared for it. At first it just felt like the total loss of control.”



The singer and rapper is currently one of the most successful voices of Generation Z. With “Wildberry Lillet” she landed a number one hit for the first time in 2022, and in 2023 the debut album “Glas”, which climbed directly on the charts, was followed. She now reaches millions of people on Tikok and Spotify. On Friday, September 19, her second album “I love myself, I don’t love myself”. At the end of October she starts a large arena tour.

However, the quick climb did not remain without consequences. After her first album, she really wanted to add up quickly. But nothing came of it, says Chuba: “I lay in bed and couldn’t move anymore.” Then she moved the work on the second album and started therapy.


Self -doubt is also a constant companion for the singer. After a actually celebrated appearance in Berlin’s Wuhlheide in the summer, she cried. “I was so disappointed with myself because I thought it was just not good enough.” Despite the sold -out house and thousands of satisfied fans, she struggled with herself. She was “really in a very stupid mental state”. In the meantime, however, she “got out” there.

Chuba describes two sides of her personality: the art figure Nina Chuba – loud, colorful, self -confident – and private Nina Katrin Kaiser from Wedel, who wants to free herself from make -up and costume immediately after the shows. This change is necessary: ​​”Because that’s my way to stay mentally healthy.”
