Priscilla Presley accompanied her son Navarone with two heavy drug trains. After the death of his nephew Benjamin, he looked for her help.
Priscilla Presley (80) spoke openly about the drug addiction of her son Navarone (38) for the first time. describes the ex-wife of Elvis Presley (1935-1977) as she accompanied him through two serious withdrawals. Navarone comes from her relationship with Marco Garibaldi.
Accordingly, two weeks after the funeral of his nephew Benjamin Keough, the son of his half-sister Lisa Maria Presley (1968-2023) and Priscilla Presley’s grandson, he was around her door in 2020. The then 33-year-old then asked his mother for help with the withdrawal of fentanyl.
Together through the withdrawal
“I would be in bed with him and he said:” My legs hurt, my legs hurt “,” reports Presley to the magazine about the subsequent withdrawal. “I got up and massaged his legs. Now I know how it is when someone goes through withdrawal. It’s terrible.”
The first withdrawal took 22 days, which Presley looked after around the clock. “Many people do not make it and immediately reach the drugs again. It was hard,” she describes this time.
Relapse and another withdrawal
The withdrawal initially seemed to be successful, but months later the relapse followed. This time Navarone Heroin – a drug that he claimed to have consumed as a teenager. Presley became a nurse again. “Finally he came to me one day and said: ‘Mom, I want to get away from the drugs. I don’t want to do that anymore. I don’t want to hurt you anymore. Do you help me?'”, She recalls. “I said, ‘I’ll definitely help you.'”
According to his mother, Navarone has remained Clean since the second withdrawal. “He has been sober since then and I’m really happy for him,” said Presley. “He is in a good place. We did it.” However, she emphasizes that the way was not easy. “Navarone was three or four times in rehab. Drugs are so powerful – they master one.”
On September 23, Priscilla Presley’s memoirs “Softly as I Leave You: Life After Elvis” will be released on September 23. In it, she takes a closer look at the two withdrawals and also gives further insights into her moving life.
