Leo Neugebauer gets gold at the World Athletics World Cup in Tokyo. After the final run, he is not doing well, but he is “Mega Happy”.
Leo Neugebauers (25) should be a big day. At the Highthletics Championships in Tokyo, the decathlon got the first gold for the team of the German Athletics Association (DLV). With a personal best and finally 8,804 points, he managed to express the competition. After the athlete had completely spent, Neugebauer showed himself overjoyed in the later interview.
At first Neuebauer felt “still shit”
After the final 1500-meter run, a wheelchair was even provided by the organizers for Neugebauer, which he did not want to use. “I’ve never felt so bad afterwards, but I also went a horny personal best, so I can’t complain,” said the happy winner. “The wheelchair was not necessary. I felt shit, but I got up.”
Neugebauer is very happy about his gold medal. “I have to honestly say: this season was just a roller coaster ride, had ups and downs. I would not have expected that myself,” said the athlete. However, he was “mega happy”.
At the DLV proud of the performance of the athlete: “Hey did it: world champion. Leo Neugebauer fetches gold in the decathlon !! 8,804 points, an unbelievable fight over the 1,500 meters – congratulations, Leo!” Team Germany for the “King of Athletics”.
