“Dawson’s Creek” star James van der Beek has to cancel his participation in a reunion event. The actor is too sick for that.
Actor James van der Beek (48) will not take part in a planned “Dawson’s Creek” reunion. . “Hamilton” star Lin-Manuel Miranda (45) replaces him.
The live event is a reading of the pilot sequence of “Dawson’s Creek”. Van der Beek has announced that he would suffer from “two stomach viruses” and therefore not participate in the charity event. “This is the evening that I was most looking forward to since my angel Michelle Williams said in January that she would organize him,” writes the actor on Instagram.
“Despite all the efforts, I will not be able to be there. I will not be on stage and thank every single viewer in the theater for the fact that he was there for me and against cancer when I needed the most,” he adds. Van der Beek announced in November 2024 that he was diagnosed with colon cancer.

The occupation of “Dawson’s Creek” will take part in the “Fuck Cancer” organization on September 22nd. The original cast was confirmed for the event. In addition to the trio Michelle Williams (45), Katie Holmes (46), Joshua Jackson (47), Mary Beth Peil (85), John Wesley Shipipp (70), Busy Philipps (46), Mary-Margaret Humes (71), Nina Repeta (58), Kerr Smith (53) and Meredith Monroe (55) Game. The reading takes place in Richard Rodgers Theare in New York.
