“Our life was very different”
“Our life was very different, you know? Very, very different. And when he was in Vegas, he just started building his career there,” said Priscilla. She remembered regularly checked the second home of the couple in Palm Springs, while Elvis appeared in Las Vegas: “Whether it is clean whether the cleaning staff have done everything before he comes home.”
But on one of these visits, she came across the post of “all kinds of girls”. “I read the mail and the things I read really disgruntled me and I didn’t like it,” she said. Priscilla describes that other women visited Elvis in the house on weekends while he was in Vegas: “It was a different life. Nevertheless, he came home and was great and wonderful. He was still a good husband, but it was just too many of us.”
Priscilla met Elvis in 1959 when she was only 14 years old and he was stationed in Germany during his army. In 1967 the two married in Las Vegas. Her marriage was characterized by intensive heights and depths: repeated affairs on Elvis’ side, but also his own relationship of Priscilla with a caratal teacher burdened the connection. In an interview in 1978, Priscilla said: “My life was his life. He had to be happy. My problems were secondary. I wanted to grow. I wanted to do things.”
In 1972 Priscilla and Elvis Presley separated, a year later the divorce became official. The daughter Lisa Marie Presley, born in 1968, emerged from the marriage, who died of an intestinal obstruction in 2023 at the age of 54. Priscilla also has a son, Navarone Garibaldi (38), with Marco Garibaldi Garcia.

Her new memoirs “Softly, As I Leave You: Life After Elvis” now offer an even deeper insight into your life after the separation and show how you dealt with the influence of Elvis’s unfaithfulness and intensive attention that was handled with life on the side of the King of Rock ‘N’ Roll. In addition, the book is about the death of her daughter Lisa Marie in 2023.
