Jürgen Drews: Suddenly the “King of Mallorca” is back

“Since I am at an age when the other have been a pensioner for a long time, I also said to myself: At some point it is good.” With these words, Jürgen Drews (80) had in the summer of 2022 on the show “The big hit beach party 2022 – it starts again!” announced the end of his great career in a one -player. In the previous year he had known to be diseased by nerve disease polyneuropathy. He later withdrew from the public after a last live concert and a farewell show. The “King of Mallorca” apparently cannot leave the stage completely behind.

At the age of 80, Drews was recently seen again several times. For a special colleague, he just returned to the big stage. In the predetermined “Giovanni Zarrella Show”, which was broadcast on September 20, Drews appeared to honor his colleagues Howard Carpendale (79) with other stars.

“Two legends meet on this stage,” Zarrella announced the appearance. Drews and Carpendale performed the song “It was best” as a duo – a moving appearance between two singers who have had an integral part of the German music landscape in the past decades. “We both are no longer the youngest,” said Carpendale after the song and remembered the first time that he saw Drew’s in the late 1960s. He wishes him “only the best health”. Zarrella raved about a “most beautiful moments in TV history”.

Shortly before, Drews could also be seen on ProSieben. Heidi Klum (52) had invited to a pre-Oktoberfest party shown on the TV for the first time. In the “Heidifest”, the model made itself comfortable in addition to Drews before the Oktoberfest “bed in the Kornfeld” opened. Numerous other sizes in the German music industry also performed in the Munich Hofbräuhaus as part of the show, including Carpendale.

And if you are already in the Bavarian capital, you don’t miss the real Oktoberfest. With his wife Ramona (52) and daughter Joelina (29), the hit star then visited the official Wiesn opening on Saturday. And for his daughter the singer also returns to Malle.

According to September 27, Joelina Drews would like to celebrate her 30th birthday in Mallorca. Jürgen Drews was no longer on site for a long time. “I was slowed down by Corona, and the calm at home was so good that I left it. I just let the appearances run out – without much farewell,” he recently told the sheet. His daughter had wished that her parents were there – and according to Drews, who is very proud of Joelina, she will.

In this context, Jürgen Drews explained that the fans should not hope for a big return. “I kept myself quite well. I don’t know any more stress,” said the singer. “But if I feel like it, I put my nose in here and there. But that doesn’t mean that I am now doing a comeback.” And he would “not start to give concerts again. I honestly would not be physically no longer.”

A new album from Drews, from which the first single was recently released, is expected to appear at the end of October – a new version of “King of Mallorca” together with Jens “Knossi” Knossalla (39). Further collaborations will also be found on the record with the title “80 Years of Mallorca”. Drews sang his overlay “A Bed in the Kornfeld” with daughter Joelina.
