Laura Dahlmeier’s death moved the nation at the end of July. For her commemoration, the municipality of Garmisch-Patenkirchen now names a park after her.

The Kurpark in Garmisch-Partenkirchen is renamed in honor of Laura Dahlmeier. The local council of Dahlmeier’s hometown of Garmisch-Partenkirchen said that the tragically crashed biathlete wanted to devote a permanent memory, the municipal council of Dahlmeier’s hometown of Garmisch-Partenkirchen.



The 31-year-old Dahlmeier died in mountaineering in Pakistan at the end of July. The two-time biathlon Olympic champion and seven-time world champion was on the road with her rope partner at Laila Peak when she was hit by rockfall at an altitude of 5,700 meters.

According to her management, Dahlmeier had ordered that in the event of her death, her body should not be recovered if helper would be in mortal danger when rescue.
