At the final of “America’s Got Talent”, a dance team from Berlin was among the ten finalists. No German dance ensemble had managed that before. But in the end a US singer won.
With the ensemble “Team Recycled” from the Berlin Flying Steps Academy, a German dance group had made it into the final of “America’s Got Talent” for the first time – but it was not enough to win. The over 40 dancers of Germany’s largest urban dance school were among the ten finalists at the American talent show.
But in the night of Thursday, hopes for a crowning glory to the winner and prize money of one million dollars were disappointed. The US audience voted for the US singer Jessica Sanchez (30).
The heavily pregnant Sanchez convinced the previous day with her performance of the song “The With A Smile” by Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars. The next two places went to the British rapper Chris Turner and the US singer Jourdan Blue. Among the artists in the final round were a school choir, a trapezoidal duo and a dance group from Brazil.
Golden Buzzer for “Team Recycled”
The Berlin “Team Recycled” had been celebrated in his appearances in the course of the competition. With their performance in the live quarters finals, the dancers from all over the world convinced that juror Howie Mandel pressed the Golden Buzzer and sent them to the final.
Her performance with lighting effects, glowing subjects and hip-hop dance acrobatics not only played on stage-the troop also used the hall behind the jury for its fast-paced appearance in the final. Juror Simon Cowell praised the team: “The work that is in it is enormous – that was really spectacular.” Sofia Vergara agreed: “That was your best appearance so far.” Juror Mel B raved from a “brilliant” performance.
Stefan Lecermann, CEO of the Flying Steps Academy dance school, said in a message: “This appearance was a milestone – not only for Team Recycled, but also for urban dance culture from Berlin. We are proud that our Academy on the world’s largest show stage was able to set a sign of creativity and cultural diversity.”
