Rap-Trio 01099 In an interview: Your friendship is now “stronger than ever”

Zachi, Paul and Gustav are 01099 – and if you have never heard of the three young musicians from Dresden, after the postcode of which they are named, that will soon change. On September 26, the three youth friends will publish their fifth studio album with the atmospheric title “Orange”. The two predecessors both stood in the German charts for several weeks, have long been filling the band founded in 2018 and inspires at festivals. They sing or rap over nostalgic memories, summer, love – and about colors.

Zachi, Paul and Gustav reveal what this is all about in an interview with the news agency Spot on News. In addition, the “boy band from the east” tells about their deep friendship with long FIFA evenings, their appearance at “Who knows something like that?” And in which other shows they would like to be there.

Paul: The favorite color is just the icing on the cake. It is the orange thread that connects the songs. It is a very warm, pleasant color, the color of the cornfield, but also from sunset.

Zachi: Definitely. We also like to talk about colors and changes in songs. Colors are so good because you can describe moods and feelings without being too direct and too clear.

Paul: And there is still scope for your own interpretations. It is very atmospheric.

Gustav: Different moods – sometimes sad, sometimes happy, sometimes demolition. Everything we do is always very, very close to our lives. This is a cross -section of what has happened to all of us throughout the year. It is the colorful mix that makes up the album.

Gustav: Love is always a present topic.

Zachi: It’s just fun to write about love.

Paul: It is generally a permanent topic and of course for us too. That is what moves the world: love.

Gustav: You just learn so much when you notice how different people are going on songs. That’s why we do it often and sometimes it is just good for a song when someone is on it again.

Paul: And we are fans ourselves. For us as boys from Dresden, it is totally crazy with other musicians whose creates we admire to make a song. Nina Chuba or Peter Fox would also be totally blatant.

Zachi: There is a confirmation and meaning for music. You can shed light on topics.

Gustav: So I would say we are a boy band on paper.

Paul: It’s a fact, difficult to deny. At least I hardly think of a different word for this kind of constellation. Boy band is also just a funny term, so we are happy to accept this name.

Zachi: We are now very aware that the business level can influence friendship if you don’t worry about it and do not communicate. But we actively proceed: we clearly take rest periods in which we have time for ourselves, where we do not have a evening about work, the music and do not stumble across decisions. And we go to coaching that offers a neutral space to address things. This is our means so that music does not affect our friendship too much. The, I would say, stronger is ever.

Paul: FIFA play. That sounds banal, but it is so important for us and it’s just so fun. But we also do sports, go to the sauna together. And we like to eat crazy things.

Gustav: We now have a break or two months where we relax, and then we probably have an extremely desire to play live again in a month, because of course that gives us a lot. And we are getting healthier over the years: we do a lot of sport on the side and take care that we eat healthy. It works really well.

Paul: Drink little alcohol, pay attention to health. This is really the insider tip.

Paul: Television is extremely fun. We love that and totally feel like doing that even more. With Kai Pflaum from “Who knows something like that?” connects us the origin from the east and also a lot. The game is fun, the quiz show and being there was great. More of it!

Paul: I would like something like “7 vs. wild”, i.e. entertainment with a challenge. But I also totally see us at “The Voice Kids”. On a triple chair.
