Andrew Garfield and Julia Roberts: holding hands at film premiere

Julia Roberts (57) and Andrew Garfield (42) opened the New York Film Festival 2025 in the Alice Tully Hall of the Lincoln Center on Friday. The co-stars were very familiar on the red carpet, ran arm in arm and sometimes even handle past the photographer and laughed laughing. In her speech, the actress, who had appeared in a blue and gray two-piece Blazer two-part, described the opening of the New York Film Festival as a highlight of her career. “I moved to New York at the age of 17, now I am 57, and these are the three greatest achievements of my New York life,” she told the audience in Alice Tully Hall. “Thank you so that we can be here.”

In her appearance in New York, Julia Roberts was not only supported by her co-stars. Her niece Emma Roberts (34), who is also successful as an actress, was also one of the guests. The two women rarely visit events together – now it was the second public appearance of Julia and Emma Roberts within a few weeks. He remembered his time as a young talent and the encounter with filmmakers, “which I don’t call here”, who told the younger Guadagnino, “the cinema was dead. And I just thought: ‘Why?'” The New York Festival, he continued, “the cinema celebrates in a way that lets us feel that it is actually alive”.

After the demonstration, a 15-minute question and answer session followed, in which Andrew Garfield spoke about a scene in which he had to sexually aggressively oppose “the national treasure of Julia Roberts”. “It was in no way pleasant,” he recalled. The scene was recorded in a single attitude.
