Florence which is about the reason for emergency surgery: internal bleeding after pregnancy in the fall

Around two years ago, the British singer Florence Welch (39) had to undergo a life-saving emergency operation. Now she has spoken for the first time about what the reasons for it were. In an interview with the “Guardian”, the Grammy nominated said that she had to undergo the intervention due to an ectopic pregnancy.

In August 2023, what her appearances at Rock en his in Paris and at the Zurich Open-Air Festival had canceled. At the time, she informed her fans via Instagram: “For reasons that I don’t feel really strong enough, I had to undergo emergency operation. That saved my life.”

Now she said that she had suffered miscarriage at an early stage of her first pregnancy. Only day later she learned that it was an ectopic pregnancy, that is, the fertilized egg cell had not nestled in the uterus, but in an fallopian tube. The fallopian tube then tore and caused massive inner bleeding. After a performance at a festival in Cornwall, in which she suffered from severe pain, she went to the doctor who made an ultrasound. “I had as much blood as a coat box in my stomach,” she describes the dramatic diagnosis. She was then told that she had to be operated on within an hour. The surgeons could no longer save the fallopian tube and had to remove it.

During the ultrasound, she thought that she actually had to go – to another festival. “If I had climbed on the plane, I would have come down on a stretcher. Or worse things,” she looks back. When she came home from the hospital, she screamed. “I think the sound that came out of me was like that of an injured animal or something. And then it was. Ten days later I was on stage again.”
