Jennifer Lopez about divorce: Marriage with Ben Affleck sees her positively

Jennifer Lopez (56) opened openly about her divorce by Ben Affleck (53), which was completed in January. Accordingly, she can get something positive from the marriage.

During a conversation with Lee Cowan in “CBS News Sunday Morning”, the actress and singer described her separation and personal knowledge she gained during this time, even “the best thing that could happen to me”. Because it changed them. “It helped me to grow in a way that I had to grow.” Today she was different than a year ago.

She also looks back on filming for her film “Kiss of the Spider Woman”, in which Affleck was a producer. “It was a really hard time. Every moment on the set, every moment I played this role, I was so happy, and then I was back home, and it was not so great. And I thought: ‘How do I bring it into harmony?'” The musical film finally celebrated in January at the Sundance Film Festival – of all things in the month in which the divorce was finalized. The strip comes to the US cinemas on October 10th.

In the interview, she didn’t lose a bad word about her ex-husband. On the contrary, she praised him to finance the film. “He helped make it come true.”

Affleck and Lopez have had a long history together. They fell in love with the “Gigli” set in 2021. The two were engaged from November 2002 to January 2004 and were one of the hottest Hollywood couples as “Bennifer”. But the engagement burst and both founded a family with other partners. In 2021 they dared to take a second relationship – and this time even made it to the altar. In 2022, the two superstars first married in Las Vegas, followed by a ceremony in Georgia. But there shouldn’t be a happy ending in the second attempt either. As early as 2024, Lopez submitted the divorce, which became final in January 2025.

For Jennifer Lopez it is already the fourth failed marriage. From 1997 to 1998 she was married to actor Ojani Noa (51), then from 2001 to 2003 to the dancer Chris Judd (56). From 2004 to 2014 the marriage followed with singer Marc Anthony (57), with whom she has the twins Emme and Max (17). After that, she was also engaged to baseball star Alex Rodriguez (50). Ben Affleck was married to Jennifer Garner (53) from 2005 to 2018, with whom he received three children.
