The Harald-Juhnke-Platz in Berlin was officially inaugurated with a big celebration.
With its own place in Charlottenburg, Berlin recognizes the actor, singer and entertainer Harald Juhnke (1929-2005). The space has been called its name since the beginning of September, now it has also been officially inaugurated. The street sign was symbolically unveiled.
In addition to actors Dieter Hallervorden (90), Mariella Ahrens (56), Barbara Schöne (78), Anouschka Renzi (61) and Ben Becker (60) were also present when he was honored by Harald-Juhnke-Platz. The widow Susanne Juhnke (80) and the son of the late show legend, Oliver Juhnke, also took part. Berlin’s governing mayor Kai Wegner (CDU, 53) gave a speech.
Juhnke shaped the cultural life in Berlin
With the renaming of the square at the Kurfürstendamm, Grolmanstraße and Uhlandstrasse intersection, artistic life’s work and his close connection with the city were recognized in a “visible sign” 20 years after Juhnke’s death, Wegner was already quoted in a statement from the Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf district at the beginning of September. “Harald Juhnke was one of the largest entertainers in Germany and celebrated many successes as an actor, singer and showmaster. With his appearances at the Kudamm stages, he delighted the Berliners.”
Juhnke was one of the largest entertainers in Germany. Shows like “A crazy couple” or “Music is Trumpf” were quotas. He was also seen in films and plays. He was also the German voice of Hollywood greats like Charles Bronson and Marlon Brando.
He had often noticed his alcohol consumption away from the stage. The actor suffering from dementia died on April 1, 2005.
