Margrethe von Denmark will travel to Rome. There is a award ceremony for the 85-year-old there.

Margrethe II (85) will soon take a trip: the former Queen of Denmark, who dismissed on the throne in January 2024 and handed over the scepter to son Frederik X. (57), will visit Rome on October 24 and October 25, 2025. The reason is an anniversary.

“On the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the Queen Margrethe Prize, her majesty attends Queen Margrethe Rome and takes part in the award ceremony in the Denish Institute for Science and Art in Rome on October 24,” says the royal family. It is also explained: “On October 25th, Queen Margrethe will take part in a program whose focus is on archeology, art history and architecture.” The exact program will be announced at a later date.

The price said that the 2015 award was launched by the Carlsberg Foundation (Carlsberg Fondet) on the occasion of the Queen’s 75th birthday. “Every year it is awarded to a person, group or institution who has made a special contribution to culture, science or mediation with reference to Italy.” The prize is linked to the tradition of the Princess Margrethe scholarship and honor the longstanding commitment of Queen Margrethe for Culture and Science, especially in terms of Rome and Italy.

“Queen Margrethe has been a patron of the Institute for Science and Art in Rome since 2011 and last attended the institute and Rome in 2017 on the occasion of the celebrations for the 50th anniversary of the institute building, which was inaugurated by Frederik IX. And Queen Ingrid in 1967,” is also explained.
