Amira Pocher criticizes the “Rúrik messing around” on “Let’s dance”

Amira Pocher dances in this year’s season of “Let’s Dance”. That gives her great pleasure, as she reports in her podcast “Die Pochers hier”. But one thing really annoys her: the sexism that Rúrik Gíslason practices.

The current episode “Wildcard, Baby” is of course also about Amira Pocher’s participation in the dance show “Let’s Dance”. As usual, the Pocher couple discuss very directly. But one topic really enrages Amira Pocher: the eternal “Rúrik-Rumgelechze” on the show.

Speaking to her husband, she says: “One thing gets on my nerves so much, this yawning after Rúrik, oh my God, he’s awesome, hooo. It’s so blatantly disrespectful when the husband stands by. So there’s Valentin Lusin and then they say to Renata, well how about that hot, amazing, sexy Rúrik? Can you dance with him again today?”

Rúrik Gíslason is a former Icelandic professional footballer who competed in the 2021 dance contest with professional dancer Renata Lusin. Since then it has been on everyone’s lips because of its appearance. At the 2022 opening show, the 2021 couple jive again. “The moderation starts like this, the moderation, it’s all about Rúrik’s optics,” says Amira about the start of the show.

“If you treated a woman like Rúrik, it would be sexism”

In the further course of the podcast episode, Amira Pocher has another thought: “But then I also thought, imagine, that would be a woman and the men would grope around all the time.” Her husband Oliver Pocher replies: “That would be sexism.” The mother of two also sees it this way: “If it were a woman and all the men would say ‘Well, the horny Amira’ or just stand there and say: ‘I just want to look at you’that would be sexism again.”

On the first day of the current season, Rúrik Gíslason also replaced juror Joachim Llambi, who failed with a positive corona test. There was not much understanding for this from the professional dancers, because even Jorge Gonzalez, who is a permanent juror on the show, is not a dance professional. There has been speculation as to whether the replacement for Llambi was placed behind the jury desk solely because of appearance. “The fact that he is likeable, that he is a talented dancer, is not discussed at all,” the 29-year-old also notes.
