Prince is looking for princess because daddy wants it that way

The king has given away the game console to young Prince Theo (Alexander Köfner) because the heir to the throne should finally get going and look for a princess. What then fans out in the Landestheater studio stage on the promenade is the fairy tale chaos “Once upon a time…” based on the Brothers Grimm, lovingly crafted by author and director Susanne Schwab: from Sleeping Beauty to Rapunzel, from the Frog Prince to the Princess and the Pea , which, however, comes from Hans Christian Andersen.

The mystical magic mirror not only knows old jokes, but also where the marriage candidates live. So Theo saddles his horse to the listless bride show. He gets to know dwarfs with beards that have been styled with care oil. Rapunzel isn’t even locked up in her tower, she just doesn’t like company because of a stupid prince experience. Nevertheless, Rapunzel (Sofie Pint), to whom nobody is allowed to say lamb’s lettuce, busts the frog prince. He doesn’t turn into a prince, but into a princess who likes women.

Friedrich Eidenberger and Isabella Campestrini slip into all the other roles brilliantly and with a great deal of humour. But who knows, maybe Theo doesn’t even have to go down the aisle. Perhaps the king just wanted the young man to be among the people after the sad death of his mother. (pg)
