This year, the situation was different: we recovered the vacationer who settles for a fortnight or month and turns the various destinations on the Atlantic coast into their chosen vacation spot, planned and enjoyed 100%.
Various factors contributed to this phenomenon. On the one hand, the restrictions imposed on traveling abroad and the critical health situation in some countries in the region, which discouraged Argentine families from vacationing in neighboring countries such as Brazil or Uruguay, which used to be very popular. On the other hand, the exchange gap that is no longer so beneficial and is usually a determining factor when planning a trip.
But other key issues also had an influence: on the one hand, the sophistication of the hotel offer and, above all, gastronomy in the different destinations of the coastal party, but the most important impact -from my point of view- was produced by the effect of the home office as a consequence of the pandemic, which allowed many vacationers to settle in the different vacation destinations for a longer time, achieving a very beneficial mix of remote work + relaxation for all those involved in the chain: tourists who no longer had to travel the routes during the weekends and actors in the tourism market that were able to recover financially and emotionally from the strong blow generated by the effect of Covid-19.
Whatever the cause, it is a fact that Argentine customs changed this season. From the tourism sector we celebrate the return of new visitors and above all things of those historical ones who after leaving for a few years returned to enjoy an Atlantic coast in all its splendor. As the saying goes “you always go back to your first love”, and this year it was more visible than ever.
