The streaming platform Netflix premiered “Nero”a French production that combines historical drama, action and adventure in eight episodes. The series, set in 16th centuryportrays a France plagued by drought and social conflicts. The project, developed over four years by Karé Productionsmarked a milestone in the platform’s European catalog for 2025.

The direction was in charge of Allan Mauduitknown for Kabul Kitchen, who led the first half of the season. Ludovic Colbeau-Justindirector of “Jack Mimoun & The Secrets of Val Verde”, took care of the final episodes.


The plot follows Neroa ruthless mercenary betrayed by his former mentor, who undertakes a dangerous mission to rescue his daughter Pearlraised as an orphan. Father and daughter must survive a journey full of enemies and moral dilemmas, where family loyalty and the fate of the world come into conflict.

What “Néro” is about
The story takes place in 1504in the south of France. Neroperformed by Pio Marmaiis a cynical assassin who suffers the betrayal of his former ally. Forced to flee, he discovers that his daughter Pearlwhom he abandoned at birth, is in danger. His objective is divided between protecting her and facing forces that threaten to destroy everything.
Néro and Perla’s journey takes them from Perpignan to the medieval fortress of Sauceshistorically used by the Catholic Monarchs. The recordings also included locations in Vintimille (Italy), Nice, Menton and Barcelona (Spain)adding authenticity to the 16th century setting.
The plot mixes revenge, redemption and survivalwhere each decision puts not only his life at risk, but the balance of a world on the brink of chaos.
