After the “Sentebale” scandal, there is renewed excitement about a charity organization that is connected to Prince Harry. This time with the “African Parks” in Chad.
There are once again negative headlines surrounding a charity organization with which Prince Harry is connected: The government of Chad has terminated its agreement with a controversial nature conservation organization, on whose board the Duke of Sussex sits. She accuses the charity “African Parks” of failing to curb poaching. The country then ended a 15-year mandate to manage two protected areas.
According to the BBC, the Environment Ministry said African Parks had behaved “arrogantly and disrespectfully” towards the government and had not fully cooperated with the authorities.
This is what “African Parks” says about the allegations
The charity itself. It said it had begun “discussions with the ministry to understand the government’s position and find the best way to support the continued protection of these conservation-important landscapes.”
African Parks, whose board member and former president is Prince Harry, manages over 20 national parks and protected areas in twelve countries. It is not said to be the first scandal in which the organization has been involved. According to the BBC report, employees in the Republic of Congo were previously said to have mistreated people.
Prince Harry: New trouble after the “Sentebale” scandal
For Prince Harry, the fuss over “African Parks” comes just a short time after the scandal surrounding his charity “Sentebale,” which he left in a dispute. It was only in August that an investigation lasting several months informed the Royal about serious allegations made by “Sentabale” chairwoman Dr. Sophie Chandauka exonerated. According to British media, the investigation found no evidence to support Chandauka’s claims that Prince Harry and others targeted her and “harassed and bullied her on a large scale.”
Around 20 years ago, Prince Harry and Prince Seeiso of Lesotho founded the charity, which operates in the southern African countries of Lesotho and Botswana, in memory of their mothers. Both resigned as patrons of “Sentebale” after a break between them and Dr. Sophie Chandauka had come.
