Concert cancellations and a dramatic message from her sister: Dolly Parton fans were very worried about their idol. Now the singer spoke up herself.
With the words “I’m not dying!” A very lively Dolly Parton has allayed her fans’ concerns about her health.
“Lately everyone thinks I’m sicker than I really am,” said the 79-year-old in the short video. Parton sits stylishly in the spotlight on a film set. The singer said she was working on a few commercials there. “Do I look sick to you? I work hard here!”
“I’m not dying”
“Anyway, I just wanted to reassure everyone. All of you who are really worried, which I really appreciate. And I appreciate your prayers because I’m a person of faith. I can always use prayers – for anything and everything. But I want you to know: I’m fine,” Parton said cheerfully.

However, the “Jolene” singer also acknowledged some issues surrounding the death of her husband Carl Dean. So she let some things slide.
“When I finally got around to it, the doctor said: We have to take care of it. Nothing serious, but I just had to cancel a few things so I could be closer to home.” She is currently undergoing treatment and wants to let her fans know: “I’m not dying!”
Dolly Parton canceled concerts
Parton’s husband died in March at the age of 82. The couple had been married for almost 60 years.
At the end of September, Dolly Parton had to cancel several concerts planned for December in Las Vegas due to health problems. These should now be made up for in September 2026. But she continues to work on her projects in her hometown of Nashville, she wrote on Instagram at the time. “Don’t worry about me quitting the business because: God hasn’t said anything about quitting yet.”
Parton self-deprecatingly added upon rejection that it was obviously time for her “100,000 mile check-up” – but that didn’t mean “the usual trip to my plastic surgeon.”
Sister called on fans to pray
This week, the US country singer’s sister worried her fans with a call to pray for Dolly Parton. “Many of you know she hasn’t been feeling great lately,” Freida Parton wrote on Facebook. She was up all night praying for Dolly. At the same time, she asked everyone who loves her sister to also pray for her.
Hours later, the 68-year-old wrote that she had to clarify something: “I didn’t want to scare anyone or make it sound so serious.”
