It is one of the greatest successes of Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber and his librettist Tim Rice: the rock opera “Jesus Christ Superstar”, which premiered in New York in 1971 and is about the last seven days of Jesus’ life. For the Kerbl family it is also a piece of family history, which began in 2000 in the Bad Hall City Theater.
Back then, Thomas Kerbl, director of the three-part festival “Opera, Operetta, Musical” in Bad Hall since 2022, brought the work to the stage in the health resort. In Georg Staudacher’s production, his wife Susanne Kerbl appeared as “Maria Magdalena”, the mysterious companion at Jesus’ side.
Exactly ten years ago, the Linzer native first directed the cult work in Bad Hall, where it will also premiere in her production on October 11th. This time, daughter Laura Maria takes on the role of Mary Magdalene, alternating with Katharina Sellner.
