Moody Blues star John Lodge is dead






Mourning in the music world: A star of the Moody Blues, John Lodge, has died at the age of 82.

This was announced by the musician’s family.



The bassist joined the band in 1966 with his colleague Justin Hayward, 78, after Denny Laine (1944-2023) and Clint Warwick (1940-2004) left. Birmingham-born Lodge worked on songs such as “Nights In White Satin”, “Question” and “Isn’t Life Strange” with.

John Lodge’s death was ‘sudden and unexpected’

The statement from John Lodge’s family said their “beloved husband”, father, grandfather, father-in-law and brother “passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loved ones and the sounds of the Everly Brothers and Buddy Holly.” The family also explained that the musician had “left us suddenly and unexpectedly.”


“As anyone who knew this big-hearted man knows, his unwavering love for his wife Kirsten and his family was most important to him, followed by his passion for music and his faith.” The family continued: “We will forever miss his love, his smile, his kindness and his absolute and unending support. We are heartbroken, but we will move forward in peace, surrounded by the love he had for each of us. As John always said at the end of the show, thank you for keeping the faith.”

John Lodge had been married to his wife Kirsten since September 1968, with whom he had two children. The band The Moody Blues performed until 2018, the same year the group was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Justin Hayward, the singer of the Moody Blues, wrote on social media: “I am very sad and shocked by John’s death. I have so many fond memories of our music together. My sincerest condolences go out to his lovely wife and family.”
