The original film, based on the 2003 novel by Lauren Weisbergerfeatured Hathaway as a journalism graduate who lands a job at a prestigious fashion magazine, assisting its brooding editor-in-chief, Miranda Priestly (Streep). The 2006 comedy was a critical and box office success, and a sequel was announced last year.


Now, the Deadline portal reports that the singer of “Mayhem” will join the cast in an as-yet-undisclosed role, following photos of him on set that recently surfaced online. The film will be released on May 1, 2026, almost 20 years after the release of the previous one, and will focus on Priestly, who faces the changing landscape of print journalism.
Lady Gaga’s acting career
Gaga has combined her musical career with a series of high-profile acting roles in recent years. After having played important roles on the small screen in American Horror Story: Hotel and the most recent season of Merlinahis greatest successes have come in the cinema.
In 2018, he starred A Star is Borna remake of the 1937 romantic drama, co-starring Bradley Cooperplaying a troubled industry legend who mentors and falls in love with a talented newcomer (Gaga). The “Poker Face” artist won an Oscar for Best Original Song for “Shallow” and was nominated for Best Actress. He would also win a BAFTA and a Golden Globe for the film’s music.
Last year, she played Harleen “Lee” Quinzel, a version of the character Harley Quinn, in Joker: Folie à Deux. While his performance was praised by critics, the film was a box office failure. In response to the poor reception, Gaga told Elle: “I think to be an artist, you have to be willing that people don’t like it sometimes. And you keep going even if something doesn’t connect the way you intended.”
The announcement caps a busy year for the artist, who released her sixth solo studio album Mayhem2 on March 7.
