Dana and Dennis Diekmeier reported on Instagram that their daughter, who had cancer, was taken to an intensive care unit over the weekend.
Dennis Diekmeier’s wife Dana has once again commented on the health of her daughter Delani. The wife of the former HSV soccer player reported that her daughter, who was suffering from cancer, was “very badly” on the night from Saturday to Sunday, “so that the ambulance had to come at 3 a.m. and we were taken to the emergency room.”
Diekmeier continued: “She then came straight to the intensive care unit and was immediately treated well.” “Fortunately, your daughter is on the mend” and we hope to be able to go home soon.”
At the end of September, Dana Diekmeier also reported from the hospital. she explained: “Delani survived the new operation on her left lung well today. Thank you for all the messages. She is now recovering in the intensive care unit from the procedure that lasted several hours.”
Open words from Dana and Dennis Diekmeier
It was a conscious decision for the couple to be open about their daughter’s diagnosis, which they received at the beginning of the year. “At some point we realized that it would be good for us to go public with it at an early stage,” said Dennis Diekmeier.
“This helped Delani in particular a lot: when she received encouragement from others, not just from us, it gave her a lot of strength. With our story we now want to give strength to other people, especially children.”
With a fundraising campaign for the German Cancer Research Center, the family also wants to make a contribution to promoting cancer research “so that better therapies, earlier diagnoses and hopefully one day more people can be cured.”
The couple explains the campaign: “Our daughter was diagnosed with a very rare and aggressive cancer at the age of 14. We are now realizing, more than six months after the diagnosis, that there is simply a lack of money for research into many rare diseases. We would like to change this and need your help. If everyone donates just a few euros, more people can soon be cured and have a chance of survival.”
Dana and Dennis Diekmeier have been married since 2010. In addition to 14-year-old Delani, the couple has three other children.
