Save the cardboard boxes and toilet paper tubes: you can recycle them and make a garage for toy cars

Recycling is taking on great importance in today’s society and more and more people are looking to give a second life to objects that they would normally throw away without a second thought. There is a lots of techniques and ideas to make both decorative and functional objects.

With a little cardboard, rolls of paper and a lot of imaginationyou can create a three-story car park completely recycled. This idea is ideal for spending the afternoon with the kids, encouraging creativity and teaching them the value of reusing everyday materials.

Necessary elements and step by step

For this craft, you don’t need almost anything that you don’t already have at home:

Step by step

1. Of the three cardboards, one is left uncut (it is the base).

In the other two, ramps 20 cm long and 5 cm wide are marked and cut, one on the long side and one on the short side. It is then folded into a 5cm tab to form the slope.

2. Assemble the structure

Glue three cardboard rolls on the base to form the columns. Place the second cardboard on top (the one with the long ramp). Glue the ramp facing forward. Add three more scrolls and assemble the third floor, with the ramp to the right.

3. Strengthen and stabilize

Cut 2.5cm wide strips of cardboard and glue them around as railings. If it wobbles, place skewer sticks as reinforcement.

4. Apply folder (optional)

Mix glue with water and cover the entire structure with newspaper. This makes it more resistant and durable, perfect if it is going to be used a lot.

5. Paint and decorate

Once dry, paint floors and ramps gray, columns maroon, add white lines with sheets or tempera to simulate parking lots, and make small signs with arrows and the “P” for parking to give it more realism.

The result is a resistant, colorful and functional three-story parking lot, ideal for playing with small cars. It is a great way to recycle materials, encourage creativity and spend quality time with the little ones.

If you want to make it even more realistic, you can add numbered garages with markers, stick on colored paper or stickers, and use mini LED lights or recycled cars from old toys.
