This is a practical, economical and ecological idea to create your own furniture with objects you already have at home.
Transforming the old into something new can be easier than it seems. Many times we accumulate things that we stop using and that end up taking up space or going to the trash. But those pieces can become something functional and creative.

Wooden hangers, for example, tend to break or get forgotten in the closet. Instead of throwing them away, you can turn them into a light table resistant and original, which can be perfect for decorating your bedroom or any corner of the house.

Why is it important to use what we already have?
Reusing what we have on hand not only helps save our pockets, but also to the planet. Each object we recover avoids generating more waste and reduces the consumption of new materials.
In addition, making something with your own hands has extra value, since it encourages creativity and connection with your objects. You don’t need to be an expert in carpentry or have professional tools, just the desire to try and take advantage of what is already at home.
Step by step: how to make a light table with wooden hangers?
Necessary materials
- 4 wooden hangers
- 4 planks at a 90° angle
- 4 self-drilling screws
- 1 round board
- Screwdriver or drill
To have a functional table with a rustic design you have to do this:
-
Prepare the hangers: Remove the metal hooks from four wooden hangers.
-
Assemble the base: I joined the hangers in pairs, facing their widest ends. Place a 90° plate in each joint and secure with screws.
-
Join the parts: I repeated the same process with the other two hangers and then joined both structures together to form a firm base.
-
Place the lid: You can use a round board, such as a pizza or chopping board, to form the surface. Place it on top of the base. If you want it to be fixed, screw it or glue it, but if you prefer it to be removable, simply support it.
-
Put the finishing touches: You can sand the hangers or paint them the color that matches your room.
