From October 4 to 12, Cordova It became the epicenter of the cultural life of the region. With more than 100 works that are represented in 21 spaces in the capital city and 20 locations in the province, the Mercosur International Theater Festival brought together national and international casts that stand out for the quality of their proposals.
The event not only presented a diverse program but also generated a strong impact on the regional economy given the number of people who attended the different functions and stayed in the province for a few days.
The festival promoted artistic dialogue between Ibero-American actors and directors, promoted independent theaters, promoted the making of co-productions and enabled training spaces.
In this edition, memory was one of the privileged axes in the selection of national shows, as is the case of the play “Seré” in which the playwright Lautaro Delgado Tymruk relive scenes from the Trial of the Military Juntas.
At the international level, the offer includes co-productions between Spain and Uruguay, casts of Chile, Brazil, Spain, France and Colombia.

From Peru came a work for children and adults made with puppets by Inés Pasic. “From the Blue” put on stage strange, fragile and ridiculous creatures that, with humor, tell their experiences and feelings in a well-oiled stage game.

International political events also had their place in the festival. “Filtro”, the co-production between The Wandering Dramatic of Bilbao and Sala Verdi of Montevideo It is inspired by the events at Hospital Filtro that occurred in 1994.
That year, the Spanish government extradited several Basque citizens accused of belonging to the terrorist organization ETA.
During the massive demonstration there was brutal repression that the director and playwright María Goiricelaya staged in an austere and dramatic way.

The story, in which a country tries to heal wounds under impossible conditions, serves to honor those who are no longer here and transform suffering into an artistic expression.
