Netflix recently added to its catalog Spanish production A ghost in battle. After its passage through cinemas in Spain and its global presentation at the San Sebastián Festival, the film is positioned as one of the strongest premieres on the platform.

This production directed by Agustín Díaz Yanes and based on real events, It is inspired by the so-called “Operation Sanctuary”one of the largest anti-terrorist actions of the Civil Guard in collaboration with France, which in 2004 managed to dismantle a good part of ETA’s leadership.

What A Ghost in Battle is about, the production that Netflix incorporated

A ghost in battle follows the life of Amaia, played by Susana Abaitua, a young civil guard who takes on the difficult task of infiltrate ETA. For more than ten years he has worked under covert cover, with the aim of identifying and dismantling hiding places that house weapons, explosives and terrorist logistics.

The film extends beyond the clandestine life to also explore the moral dilemmas, personal tensions and psychological toll borne by someone who must live a double life. The story intertwines the operational tension of the anti-terrorist fight with human relationships, identity, fear and perseverance, framed in a country (Spain) that has been living with the legacy of ETA’s violent actions, the political consequences and painful memory.
