Singer Maite Kelly surprises with an unusually revealing song

Your new song tells of a hot night of love – and is apparently autobiographical. Singer Maite Kelly has never been heard so explicitly before.

During the hit boom on Saturday evening, Maite Kelly should be a topic of conversation. The singer presents in Florian Silbereisen’s show – and it has it all. The song is about a hot night of love, described with an openness that is unknown from the 44-year-old.

The text tells of a nighttime encounter that begins with a taxi ride home and ends with empty champagne bottles and rummaged sheets. “You’re lying next to me, what have we done? You took me to heaven three times / What a night,” goes the chorus. The Kelly daughter has rarely been heard singing so explicitly about her love life.

Maite Kelly: “I don’t exist without a stage and music. It’s the place for me to meet people.”

“I can’t deny it” – Maite Kelly gets personal

Maite Kelly admits that the song is more than just fiction. “Not all the songs I write are autobiographical – with this one I can’t deny it,” confirms the singer. The song reminds her of being a woman. “It’s a tribute to the power of imagination and the hidden desires that perhaps every woman has,” explains Kelly.

But performing with this song is also a challenge for the experienced entertainer herself. “Ten years ago I wouldn’t have had this courage. Because writing a song like that is one thing – it’s another to sing it in front of an audience of millions,” she says. But her music is supposed to be liberating, even for herself. She also believes that women have a “damned soul’s right to sensuality.”

Singer about love and relationships

Maite Kelly also speaks openly about her personal love life. When asked whether the rush of love can last in long relationships, she answers: “I have always been in long relationships and was lucky that the fire always remained alive. But an erotic feeling is not just reduced to physical contact. Eroticism has an incredible number of levels – and for women it takes place first in the head.”

The “Schlagerboom 2025” takes place this Saturday under the motto “Everything sparkles! Everything glitters!” in the Westfalenhalle in Dortmund. Florian Silbereisen will also present the show live on Erste from 8:15 p.m. In addition to Maite Kelly, Andrea Berg, Roland Kaiser, Unheil, the No Angels and Thomas Anders will perform, among others.
